Englefeld School came into existence in 1909. The history of the school and of the surrounding one room schools that eventually closed, can be found in the Englefeld history book called Fields of Prosperity. The book was published in 1987 and is available to read online.

In 1998, after a year of closure, the school became the Englefeld Protestant Separate School and reopened as a kindergarten to grade twelve school.

In 2018 the school became part of the Horizon School Division.
