Roman
Zimmerman Retires as Town Administrator
Roman accepted the duties of the Administrator for the Village of
Englefeld on September 1, 1989. His responsibilities not only
included the Village Clerk position but also the Maintenance position
as well as being the Utilities Operator. He attended numerous
workshops to be educated in any changes to do with the administration
of the village. Through these workshops he obtained his Class
1 in both Water Treatment and Water Distribution and Wastewater
Treatment Distribution.
Development to the village while Roman held his position included the
expansion to the lagoon, installation of curb and gutter on the
streets, and developments of two new sub divisions. A
highlight was having six new housing starts in 2008.
Roman’s interests include coaching hockey, running and
woodworking. He has coached hockey for over 30
years. Some of his accomplishments were being the assistant
coach with Team Sask at the Canada Winter Games in Corner Brook,
Newfoundland in 1999, and assistant coach with Team Western at the
World under 17 Championships in Timmins, Ontario in 2000. On
the local scene, teams he has coached have won 17 league championships
and 8 provincial titles.
Roman runs 3 days a week and competes in two or three races each year
in Saskatoon. Last year in Yorkton in the 55+ Provincial
Senior Games he won gold in the 3000 meter and the 1500 meter races.
Roman enjoyed his employment with the Village of Englefeld and the
opportunity of working for different mayors and councilors.
He was fortunate to have council that supported him. He will
miss working with council and the public but felt it was time to move
on. Roman retired on Feb 28, 2009.
